My father and his best friend took us to Loomis back in the 70's all the way till about 2000, we started staying down the river a bit for the next 17 years, at the tippy pond campground and mana-pine, but we are returning to where it all began this year, 2018. See you in May.

My grandfather (art thornell) lived in Wellston. He and I would rent a rowboat in the 1950's for about a dollar and a half for the day. Dewey Loomis was in charge at that time. I took my son back in the 1970's and rented a boat again for a few more dollars I blew the horn at the top of the hill (as we did in the 50's); at the check in station was Dewey himself, a little older. The whole incidence raised the hairs on the back of my neck - to be able to recreate an exact page from my childhood days!! In Wellston, my grandfather lived next to Gomus Labadie. My grandfather won Field and Stream flyfishing with a 14.5 lb rainbow; Gom won it with a 22.5 lb rainbow on a flatfish. Those were the days!!

I have many fond memories of that place.
